History: This sweet girl needed rescue when she was found as a stray on a reservation. She had two gun shot wounds that needed immediate medical attention. She is healing and cannot wait to find a family of her own!
A note from the foster: Cinnamon is just a sweetheart. She seems very happy and full of life. She definitely has a sparkle in her eye and I swear she is always smiling and wagging her tail. She is very engaged in what is going on and does not let her bum leg slow her down too much. We are proud of her because even with her injuries and stubborn streak she has been learning and catching on to her routines and manners really well: no accidents, is crating nicely so far, and is pretty good with choosing appropriate toys. And she has also stopped counter and table surfing which I know is hard for her when she smells yummy food. Overall she is doing well hanging out with our dogs too, though once in awhile we need to remind her she is not the boss particularly when it comes to the toys. She can get a little possessive and protective sometimes but has really done well when we let her know that she doesn't need to be that way. We are so proud of her.
Update: Cinnamon continues to amaze us with her spirit and determination. We have recently discovered that she is quite the adventure dog and enjoys car rides, exploring out on walks, and being in the water. We took her down for the first time with our dogs to a small river near our home to cool down on a hot day, and she had so much fun swimming and running through the shallow water as well as investigating along the shore. Her other favorite things in life are meeting people, belly rubs, and toys, toys, toys. Cinnamon has now healed up from her injuries, and though she does have a "bum leg" she does not let it her stop her from loving life. She seems to take on life boldly and fearlessly. We are so proud of her in that with all the fireworks and storms these last few weeks, she did not seem to be phased at all. As a matter of fact, she went outside to find out where all the noise was coming from like she wanted to protect everyone and even watched our local fireworks with us in our backyard! We thought that was pretty amazing for a girl who had just recovered from gunshot wounds! Cinnamon is also still crating well and has had zero accidents so is completely housetrained. She is as sweet as she is stubborn, but her stubbornness is actually quite endearing. She will appreciate someone who understands this and is willing to be a strong leader for her. She is currently living with a couple of larger dogs and one cat and is doing well, though we do believe proper introductions meeting new dogs will be very important. This wonderful girl is ready for her special person or family to continue her journey with her.
