History: Evan arrived to rescue from a hoarding situation. He is shy, but very friendly. He will need a loving and patient family to help him grow into the well rounded adult that we know he can be!
A note from the foster: Evan is as sweet as he is gorgeous. He is a shy dog that has made tremendous progress since arriving in his foster home. Initially, he was very under-socialized, but every day he becomes more relaxed as he learns about Iiving the good life with his foster family. It is so wonderful to see his happy face when he gets caught up in the moment when playing, earning treats, and learning to trust. Other dogs in the house often steal his treats, and Evan allows that - he is a gentle soul. Evan loves his tennis balls. He is really athletic and can catch them in mid air! Evan makes the most adorable “woof woof” sound when he is trying to see if he can encourage me to give him a treat - it is so cute and absolutely irresistible. I always laugh, and he always gets the treat.
He has become comfortable living with several other dogs and he is becoming curious of people he doesn't know who visit the house. Evan’s adopters will need to continue to work with him using positive training methods and should be prepared for that to take some time. He will do best in a calm adult-only home with another friendly dog that loves to play. He hasn't had experience with cats in his foster home. Evan currently takes daily medication to help him with anxiety and may need to continue that medication throughout his life. Due to allergies, he should be fed a grain free diet. He is trained to use potty pads indoors, and is making progress with a trainer on learning how to go outside, and to accept a leash. Evan is fearful of certain noises, people approaching him too quickly, and unfamiliar situations. He currently travels to the vet and to the groomer in a crate. Evan shows no sign that his progress is stalling, so with patience, a calm environment, and time to adjust to a new home, there is no telling how far he can go.
