History: This sweet boy needed rescue from an overcrowded shelter. He was a senior in poor shape but the volunteers could not stand that the shelter be his last resting spot. He is receiving palliative care in a foster home as he has masses on his spleen and kidney. He is adored with us and we are happy to give him what he deserves.
A note from the foster: Atlas is settling in to his foster home nicely. He was shy and unsure at first, but now he’s comfortable being himself and his personality is shining through. He’s a very funny and sweet boy. He does have a loud bark which he is not afraid to use, mostly to ask to go outside. Atlas absolutely loves to be outside in the snow! He likes exploring the yard, but then makes himself a cozy spot to chill out and enjoy the fresh air.
Atlas is house trained but he doesn’t respond well to verbal commands or hand signals… probably because his hearing and his sight are both operating at minimal capacities. But he doesn’t get into anything or chew anything. Atlas also gets along just fine with my dog. He isn’t interested in ‘playing’ with her but he does seem to be completely comfortable around her and he enjoys her company. It’s better if Atlas doesn’t have to do to many stairs, but he gets up and down my two steps to the back yard like a pro.
Atlas does like his food and his biscuit treats – quite the appetite for an older gentleman! His favorite spot is in the comfy bed with a soft blanket. Atlas sleeps a lot, and when he sleeps, he remains undisturbed! He is getting a lot of love and attention in his foster home and he deserves all of it! What a nice dog.
