History: Belle is a beautiful senior lab who needed help when her elderly owner was moving into an apartment that did not allow pets. She is very friendly with dogs and cats and loves to play catch. Belle is the sweetest girl with a loving and affectionate personality who is hoping to find a family of her own again soon, you will not be disappointed!
A note from the foster: We have had Belle in our home since October, and she has brought us nothing but joy since her arrival. Belle is such a loving, sweet girl, that absolutely ADORES her tennis balls and toys, and always has the energy to play. Even though she may be a senior gal, she has the energy of a typical lab. She loves to play fetch and explore new places!
Belle is 100% potty trained, and is very good at letting you know when she has to go. Once outside, she immediately goes. She is fantastic at basic commands, and listens very well.
When we first got her, she had some anxiety in the kennel, which she started taking anxiety medication for. We quickly realized she does not like being in a kennel while we are gone, so we let her roam around the house while we are at work. Since we have let her roam around the house while we are gone, she has had zero issue with accidents or barking.
Belle loves any and all type of affection from humans, but is picky about what dogs she likes. She is indifferent to most dogs she meets, but does growl at neighbor dogs when they walk into "her" yard while playing fetch. I think she would do well in a home with no dogs, or one less dominant dog.
Overall, Belle has a wonderful and easygoing temperament once you give her time to adjust to her new environment. We live in a smaller apartment with no problems. During the day while we are gone she typically sleeps, and at night she loves to lounge on the couch with us watching tv or playing with toys.
Belle is just looking for a nice, quiet home to spend the rest of her life. Although she may be considered "senior", every person she has met agreed she has so much more life left in her. If you are hoping to adopt a senior dog with little to no energy, Belle is NOT your gal- she loves to play fetch and is a must in her new home!
