History: I am a dog from the Out of the Cold Rescue Effort!
We recently were arrived back to rescue with over 400+ dogs and 20+ cats looking for a second chance after being surrendered to rescue. They are each going through their own individual journeys while in rescue- many needing extensive medical attention for orthopedic care, dentals, skin issues, etc. Other health concerns were goopy eyes, ear infections, mange, and in need of a good bath and grooming.
These deserving souls will get all the care they need and be ready to go home to your family soon!
The photos on the white couch are off when they arrived to rescue. Many will have already improved with any physical medical concerns going on as well as many having received a good bath (and some a groom) after the photos have been taken. Our foster families help us keep each dog’s profile as up to date as possible however if you are interested in learning more, please apply to adopt and once approved and connected to a foster family, they can send updated photos, bios, etc!
A note from the foster: Dill/Dill pickle/Pickles/Dillium is a 70 lb lanky loveable boy who is eager to please. He has a bachelors degree in cuddling- that’s how good he is at it.
If you want a dog to hang out in the garage/workshop with you while you work on projects- Dills your man. If you want to work on crafts/study with someone to keep your feet warm- Dills your man. If you want company while you sit on the deck and read a book and bask in the sun- Dills your man. Dill just wants to be where the people are and to come bother you for some head scratches every once in awhile ❤️
His ideal home would be one with a calmer environment that will be patient with his initial timidness. He is easily startled by loud noises & would benefit being in a home with children 10 years and above.
His exercise requirements are LOW, he wouldn’t mind doing a shorter walk and then spending the day relaxing or curled up next to you. He is working on his leash manners and doesn’t pull. His recall in our 3 acre off leash area of our yard is coming along very well. He loves playing tug & rides well in the car. His crate manners have greatly improved, initially he can be a little vocal when you leave (for that reason he should not be in a townhouse or apartment with shared walls) but he quickly relaxes after 5 min. He recently started anxiety meds and it has helped significantly.
He does have hip dysplasia, which can be easily managed with a daily supplement & ensuring he stays at his current weight. He loves to play and run, he just prefers to do it in shorter bursts with frequent rests. He is dog friendly- he would do best with a confident dog sibling who wouldn’t be too rough with playing/bully him. He did incredibly well with small puppies at one of the adoption events he went to previously. I also think he could do well with a dog savvy cat given his gentle nature.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
