History: Evan arrived to rescue from a hoarding situation. He is shy, but very friendly. He will need a loving and patient family to help him grow into the well rounded adult that we know he can be!
A note from the foster:
Evan is as sweet as he is gorgeous. He might always be a little shy, but he has made tremendous progress since arriving in his foster home. Evan loves to train and he learns quickly. He gets along with most other dogs when properly introduced and likes to play. Evan might do best in a calm household with another friendly well-socialized dog. He hasn't had experience with cats in his foster home. Evan shows no sign that his progress is stalling, so with patience, training, and time to adjust to a new home, there is no telling how far he can go.
Evan has some special needs of which potential adopters should be aware. He will need:
A very patient adopter who will work with a trainer that uses positive training methods, and who will continue to socialize him.
A home with a fenced yard and owners who are vigilant when he is outside to make sure the area is secure. Evan is not leash-trained (that is in progress), so dog parks or shared apartment dog runs are not a good option for him right now.
A family that is prepared to transport him via crate on outings while he continues to work on his harness and leash training.
Evan will do best on a grain-free diet due to allergies. He is currently on medication for anxiety, and that may need to be continued throughout his life.
