History: Nelly is a darling girl that needed rescue off of a reservation - she was emaciated and in need of TLC. She is doing great in her foster home - sweet as can be - but would love to find a family of her own!
A note from the foster: Nelly might only be 35 pounds, but her personality is giant-sized in silliness and infectious joy. She is incredibly cute and is a total clown when excited. She has recovered from having a fractured pelvis and femur perfectly. She’s now using the repaired leg to walk, climb stairs and run.
She adores children, gives great kisses, is pretty good with our grumpy old cat (wants to play, but backs off well), goes crazy for laser pointers, and chases every bug that she sees. She is very social when it comes to other dogs. She’s even turned my older pit bull into her willing wrestling partner over the weeks. When it’s time to wind down she is the ultimate in snuggling.
She is house trained and loves her doggy bed during the day. She’s very good with her crate and runs to it when it’s time to eat. She’s still working on leash manners and is starting to make positive strides. Her favorite toys are Nylabones (she’s constantly trading her small one for our pit bull’s giant one), ‘terrier’ toys (squeaky stuffed squirrels, old socks or anything else that she can pick up and shake) and as mentioned before, laser pointers! While she’s wonderful with other dogs and okay with cats, she is a terrier who had to fend for herself as a pup. With that in mind I would not recommend her for a home with rodents, lizards or birds.
