History: Dot is an adorable little curly-q! She needed a second chance and an escape out of the commercial breeding world. She is a bit timid and shy at first but warms up quickly with some patience. She has underwent heartworm treatment and is officially ready to find a forever home of her very own soon!
A note from the foster: Dot completed her Heart worm treatment on 04/15/24.
Her perfect family would be a single or retired couple with not a lot of action in the home. She absolutely needs another calm dog by her side. She startles easily and is definitely a flight risk. She would need a fenced in yard and precautions so she doesn’t slip out an open door. The perfect home would be one level.
She is so very sweet and likes to spend her time in her favorite chair whenever possible. She lays in the office with the other small dogs while I work. She is interested in a squeak toy every now and then.
She sleeps quietly in her Kennel at night. While she has no teeth, she does guard her food and is fed in her kennel for that reason. I wouldn’t want any other dog to be reactive to her.
She does not require a lot of attention and you would almost forget she is here for how quiet she is. She does not go down steps, but will happily run up ahead of you.
She must be carried down steps and that can be a little challenging at times. She comes when you call her by name and turns around and runs just as quickly in the other direction. She does well with a routine and is an early riser.
She does still have an occasional accident now and then in and out of the kennel. She does well when taken out frequently and does not alert you when she needs to go out.
While it maybe doesn’t seem like it.. Dottie Lavonne as we like to call her, has come a long way from the breeder life she knew and hated. She has put on weight, her terrible infected teeth are gone, she can hear so much better and it seems her vision improved from when she arrived. She trembled at the thought of someone touching her and is just so deserving of a soft comfy chair and a family to love her for who she is… the brave little fighter who overcame heart worm and survived her past to be welcomed by a family of her very own. That is what she dreams of… a quiet loving home to spend the rest of her days.
She has been around children and is not a fan… it takes her a long time to trust anyone. She is good with other dogs, but does not really like to play. She likes to be part of the pack.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
