What types of volunteer work are you interested in?

TRANSPORT - short and long distance opportunities available. Short distances: transport animals to/from vet, shelters, events, etc. Long distances: drive to/from a pick up point to retrieve animals coming from shelters, rescues, etc. The drive could be 2-3 hours one way. Use of your own vehicle required (reimbursement of .14 per mile is available) for all distances; kennels and leashes provided.
DOG BUDDY- Kennel assistant volunteers to come in the AM and/or PM to help care for dogs currently in boarding at CHDR. Duties include but not limited to potty breaks, feeding, exercising the dogs, general cleaning and laundry. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be compassionate for all breeds of dog.
DAY CAMP VOLUNTEER- Join our daycamp team and the fun in educating our youth during day camp this summer!
ANIMAL HANDLER AT ADOPTION EVENTS – Handle animal at adoption event and interact with potential adopters. May or may not include transporting animal to/from event. Usually held on weekends.
FUNDRAISING – Help plan fundraising events throughout the year.
EVENTS – Help man Coco’s Heart booths, talk to the public about our organization, hand out literature, assist with adoptable pets, set-up/clean-up before and after the event.
SENIOR BUDDIES - Through the Senior Buddies outreach program, we bring a couple of dogs (either in foster or volunteer-owned dogs) twice a month to a nursing home and spend an hour giving love to residents in a memory care unit.
MARKETING/OUTREACH – Help coordinate outreach efforts; create posters, blogs, etc.
DONATION COLLECTORS – Collect new or used items for foster dogs/cats (i.e., food, treats, blankets, toys, etc.).
BAKERS/CRAFTERS/SEWERS – We are always looking for new and unique items that we can sell at our events to raise money for Coco’s Heart. Some popular items are handmade pet accessories (blankets, collar scarves). We are open to any items you are willing to donate.
GROOMING – If you have previous grooming experience and are able to provide either discounted or donated grooming for a foster dog.
PHOTOGRAPHERS – Please provide examples of your photography work with animals and/or portfolio in the References section below whether professional or hobby, that is okay! In addition, we are hoping the volunteers added to the team will feel comfortable using our tethered photography system and Sony Camera, once trained. For event photography, we ask photographs to have their own professional camera and uploading abilities.
