History: Akira is a beautiful husky who needed help from an unfortunate situation in a midwest and arrived to rescue expecting a litter of pups. They are officially ready to start their journey in finding their forever homes!

A Note from the Foster: Akira is a stunning, sweet husky, who arrived to rescue pregnant and gave birth to seven beautiful puppies. Now that she’s done with raising her babies, she’s ready to find a loving forever home of her very own!

Akira does have your typical teenager/young adult husky traits – a little stubborn (she got your memo and will get back to you later), a little too smart for her own good (can she sneak an extra snack from you?) and she does talk back (cue husky talking when she’s trying to tell you something). Akira is very affectionate and would often lean against us for pets or would lay across our laps for belly rubs. She loves to be fussed over and was fairly tolerant for brushing and nail trims.

Akira will need an active family that is familiar with the breed and willing to put firm boundaries in place to help set her up for success – again, teenage husky here. She is dog friendly and will need a family who can help her to burn off energy and keep her busy. Akira would do best in a home with no shared walls as she does like to talk. She does have a prey drive so would likely not be a good fit for homes with small animals including cats, chickens, etc.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
