History: Astra is a beautiful girl who was surrendered by a commerical breeding program and arrived to rescue quite timid and unsure. She has worked so hard over the last several weeks on her trust and confidence and is officially ready to start her journey in finding a forever home of her own!
A note from the foster: Astra came from a breeder situation and continues to work on her confidence and trust. She started as a scared, shy girl that would shake at the sight of new people to a happy, bouncing and excited sweetheart once she has consistency, patience and love in her new forever home.
It has taken several months for her to feel comfortable at her foster home. Astra does take daily medication for her anxiety to help continue to grow her confidence for success with her new family.
She would prefer a fenced yard to sniff and run in. she is working on potty training and does love to be outside, though needs a sweater with this cold weather.
She enjoys walking with family and is great on a leash. She does need to have leash held securely if meeting with new dogs as introductions should be slow or she tends to have increased anxiety.
Astra does great with her foster brother and resident cats. She has no kids in foster family though after several “slow moving” meetings with neighbor girls, Astra is comfortable and will reach out for pets. She has gone to same temp foster house due to vacation and enjoys the 2 9 year old boys there.
Astra’s favorite things are to be cuddled in a warm blanket, chewing on a round chew and following foster mom around the house or cuddling with her on the sofa.
Also laying in the sun beams that come through the patio doors.
Astra’s perfect home would have a fenced yard to run, patience with her while she is learning and become adjusted to new surroundings. Along with a quiet household with her people home most of day.
Astra sleeps quietly in her kennel as long as in same room as foster family. She keeps her kennel clean and sleeps all night.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
