History: We recently welcomed a deserving group of kiddos from an overcrowded shelter who needed a second chance to a good life. They are unique and so special in their own ways and each hoping to find forever homes of their own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Meet Auguste! This handsome hunk of burning love is ready for his furever home!
Auguste is a 45 pound, sweet and gentle cuddler looking for an active and loving family.
Background: Auguste is a 1.5 year old male mixed breed who arrived to rescue from our shelter partner down south, and is overall a very healthy dog!
Personality: This guy has a moderate energy level and loves to play tug of war with his rope toy. He likes going for walks and in his down time, he likes hanging out on the couch watching the evening news (yes, that's right, this furball loves to chill out in front of the tv and actually appears interested in what he is watching). In general, he is an extrovert that loves being in contact with people or other furballs. He's great with kids and is also very respectful and gets along with other pets. He does pretty well at not eating food or drinking out of a water bowl that doesn't belong to him. Auguste would do well as either a solo pup or with other dogs and cats and is happy to share his space. He's a little timid on the stairs but with some guidance and a treat in your hand, he will walk up and down the stairs just fine.
Kennel Habits: Auguste finds comfort in his kennel which is his happy place. Pointing in the direction of his kennel and saying "kennel" is all it takes for him to go directly into his safe space. He’s pretty good at keeping his kennel clean (except for a couple of overnight accidents) and has had no accidents when kept on a schedule.
Bathroom Habits: Auguste is fully potty trained and will walk by the door when he needs to go outside. He likes to be rewarded with a treat when he comes inside after each potty break and does really well on a routine bathroom schedule which is currently in morning after breakfast, late afternoon, and once in the evening before bedtime. It's important he be let out right before bedtime to avoid overnight accidents in his kennel. He's only had one accident in the general house area which occured on his first day with his foster which was believed to have happened due to "first day" anxiety.
Eating Habits: Auguste is an excellent eater! He eats a little fast unless you stand near him and then he slows down. He has shown zero signs with food aggression and fully respects the food dishes of other pets in the house.
Sleeping Habits: Auguste is a champion sleeper! He goes into his kennel around 10pm and doesn't start alerting you that he's awake and ready for his first bathroom break of the day until around 6am in the morning. He doesn't bark but instead jumps up and down in his kennel to let you know he's ready to start the day.
Training Habits: Auguste already knows "sit" , "shake", "go potty", "kennel" and he comes to you when called.
Grooming: Auguste is a shedder and would benefit from being brushed daily. He also likes to be occasionally wiped down with baby wipes for a spa like feel after playing outside (totally optional but he loves "spa day")
Auguste is very sharp and a fast learner! He's loving and kind, and sweet and gentle, and would be a wonderful asset to any family who would welcome him into their home. Please kindly consider him as your next family member! You won't regret it!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
