History and A note from the foster: Bovine (known by his friends and family as Bo) is the perfect gentleman. If he was a person, he would be a Wal-Mart greeter. His favorite holiday is Halloween because he loves saying hi to all the fun new people who come to the door. He is a very sociable guy who loves nothing more than being by his people and is a great office dog if you work from home or if you could take him to the office with you. Or he would be happy to live out his days with someone who is retired and can spend their days snuggling with him. He does have separation anxiety which is getting better and does best if he is with another dog when left alone. He would not do well in an apartment or townhouse with shared walls though because he does make his unhappiness at being left alone known with his little Bulldog barks.
He loves the two boys (11 and 14) he lives with and enjoys meeting kids of all ages out in public but does get stressed and worried by crying babies or infants in his home so would do best in a home with older kids.
He has lived with cats and is a great kitty companion. He has also lived with multiple dogs. His best friend is a female Frenchie who he wrestles and cuddles with and he happily co-exists with a larger female dog in his foster home and seems to do best with larger dogs who let him know whose boss.
Bo has a gold star personality and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. His only flaws are medical, which is unfortunately typical for Frenchies. The only impact these issues have on him right now are that he isn't able to go up or down stairs and can't handle long walks. But he loves to ride in his stroller and is happy to be carried up and down steps. But as he ages, the impact could become more limiting, potentially affecting his ability to walk or control his bowels. But it might not! For now, joint supplements and pain management treatments such as acupuncture are keeping him limber and happy. He even gets the zoomies!
Here is a list of his medical conditions to be aware of. He is so worth it though!
1. Luxating patellas - not affecting his mobility today but could in the future
2. Hip dysplasia - limits his ability to do stairs and would impact his mobility in the future
3. Spondylosis (spinal arthritis) with some signs that it could be causing some spinal compression which may or may not worsen with time
Adoption Fee: $550 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
