History: Brooklyn is a super adorable little girl who needed a second chance to a good life. She is working hard on her trust and confidence building and hopes to find a patient family of her very own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Are you looking for Shih Tzu ready to give you all the cuddles you could need and provide you with a daily giggle with her spunky personality? If yes, Brooklyn may be your perfect match. Brooklyn came in to rescue very shy and scared. Once she got home to her foster's house, her true colors began to shine. Brooklyn does not have her full vision however, it has not stopped or slowed her one bit. She has mastered all the stairs both inside and outside the house. She is quick to hop up on the couch for some belly rubs and cuddles as well.
Brooklyn gets along great with the other small resident dogs but doesn't engage with them to play much. She would much rather follow her humans around and get every bit of attention she can gather up. She equally enjoys getting cuddles and pets from her foster Mom and her foster Dad. If you look at her face, we are pretty sure she is often smiling at us! She has not been around small children yet or cats however, due to her limited vision, I don't see any issues with cats as long as the cats are nice to her.
She has done ok in her kennel when required but really prefers to cuddle in for the night with her foster parents and the other pups in the house on the bed. She sleeps through the night with no problem on the bed and has never had an accident at night. When her foster parents are at work, she is free to roam on the main floor with the resident dogs. She gets so excited when we come home and loves to stand and walk on her back legs like a circus dog to greet you! She recently has discovered the large fenced in backyard and really enjoys exploring anything she can sniff and checkout. She is still learning about going potty outside and does use piddle pads consistently inside.
Brooklyn is scheduled for her Spay and Dental cleaning on March 11th.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
