Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest
Gender: Male
Breed: Bichon Frise
Age: DOB: 03/2019
Weight: 14 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!
History: Calloway is a handsome boy who arrived to rescue completely matted and needed to be fully shaved down and WOW! Did he feel better. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home.
A Note from the Foster: Hey, I’m Calloway! I’ve had a few foster families in my time with Coco’s Heart so my current family is still learning about me, but here’s what they would like for you to know so far!
My favorite things, in no particular order, include
-napping on the couch in the sun
-following my foster family’s dog around the house
-napping on the couch in the sun with my foster family dog…does that count? Hmm…and treats!
I am very gentle and have never ever nipped or shown any aggression.
I am still a bit timid around people so it will take a patient family to get me out of my shell. Slowly I am accepting treats and pets from people, although once I’m in your arms I have no problem being held and cuddling. I hope I can be brave enough to initiate snuggles with you one day. I do think I would thrive best in a home with another dog. I don’t really play with them, I just like to be by them. They help build my confidence with scary things like going potty outside or meeting new people.
I can be so goofy! I love to stick my head in the dog toy bin and pull out everything but toys (I found a toothbrush once!)
I’m almost there with potty training but still need some training to be 100%. I do have to go number one quite a bit so having easy access to a fenced in yard would be awesome!
I sleep in my kennel just fine as long as I’m the same room as you! My preferred way to sleep is in bed next to you. I am a very good boy during the night.
I am looking for a patient and quiet home where I can build my confidence around people. I hope I can be your new best friend!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
