History: Callum is a super sweet mini poodle who arrived to rescue very scared and shut down. He has been doing great in his foster home and is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home soon!
A note from the foster: Hi! I’m Callum's foster mom. He now goes by the name of Teddy thanks to the neighborhood kiddos who renamed him because he looks like a teddy bear.
Teddy is working on potty training but does very good on a schedule. I have used belly bands on him when I know I’ll be home but may not be able to look for his cues to tell me he needs to go out. He is skidish around all people. It has taken 2 months for me to gain his trust. He is on daily anxiety medication that has helped his anxiety immensely. He has 3 teeth left so needs to eat his food softened. He does great being brushed every night. He has been groomed 2x now and has done very well both times. Teddy does very well with our other large foster dog and resident dog. He loves going for walks when the weather is nice. He will wear a sweater with out any issue when it’s cold outside. Teddy’s favorite place to be is on my lap. He love being pet and falling asleep on my lap. He does great in his crate during the day when I’m at work but due to his previous 6 years of life I don’t keep him in his kennel any other times. He sleeps all night on a fleece blanket on my bed at night. His favorite time of the day are meal time. He will dance when you ask him if he is ready for his meal.
His new home will need to be very patient with him. A home that does not have children and has less commotion would be best for him. He will need to continue taking his medication daily. He does best when he is on this medication.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
