History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue efforts continue all winter long as we have recently welcomed another deserving group from our rural area partners in North Dakota.
A Note from the Foster: Dimitri is settling into foster quite nicely. He's still unsure about a lot of things, but he's slowly understanding how to be a dog by learning from his other buddies here. Dimitri is a really smart boy and is oh so good.
He likes his crate and is crate trained. He sleeps in there at night and is quiet. He often hangs out in his crate even while the crate is open. He's potty trained - we've not yet had any accidents in the house. Amazing for such a young pup!
He learned how to climb up stairs, but going down is a work in progress. Walks are also a work in progress. He loves being in charge and as soon as he gets resistance from the leash, he becomes dead weight on the ground and results in being carried home :)
Dimitri is on guard at first in new surroundings and tends to run the other way, but once he warms up to you, he's in for all the cuddles and rubs. He's a mean hide-and-seek player - the first time we didn't even know we were playing until we found him under the bed.
He does great with our young kids. He's also done well with our other dogs after slow introductions. He's not been around cats.
Dimitri is anxiously waiting for his furever family!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
