History: Effie is a super adorable little girl who needed a second chance to a good life. She is working hard on her trust and confidence building and hopes to find a patient family of her very own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Effie is a smart, sweet and happy little lady. She loves all people, which is rare for a breeder release dog. She also gets along with my resident dogs, who range in size from large to small. Effie has not been exposed to cats, but I don’t think they would be a problem. She loves to play with stuffed dog toys and squeaky balls. Effie is doing well with potty training outside, and uses potty pads if she needs to go before getting out. She is also doing great with walking on a leash. Effie is learning about stairs. She can handle a couple of stairs, and has gone up five stairs, but we are working on going down stairs and up more than five stairs. Effie slept in a crate next to my bed for a few nights. I started leaving the crate door open and put a fluffy blanket next to the crate to see how she would handle some freedom (the bedroom door is closed). She’s handled it perfectly! Sometimes Effie is sleeping on the blanket and sometimes in her crate. She likes to come up to my side of the bed to wake me up between 7-8 am, so I can lift her onto the bed where she promptly falls asleep right next to me.
Effie is an awesome little dog, who loves her people and just wants to be loved by them. She will do well as an only dog or be the newest member of the pack. Effie is a “whatever” dog, because she’s up for whatever, as long as she is with the people she loves.
Will you be her people?
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
