History: We received a plea to help an adorable litter of Great Dane mixes. Mom is a black Great Dane and dad is unknown. They are on the smaller side but still young so tough to really say for sure how large they will mature to at full maturity. They are officially ready to start their journeys in finding their forever homes!
A note from the foster: Elbrus is my name, my foster family calls me Barry. I’ve been with my foster family since February and it’s been great. All the love and treats I receive are amazing! Their home is definitely my safe space. See, I am a really great guy, I also happen to be a super shy and nervous guy and it can be hard for me to get out of my shell, but when I do I love to play! I’m not really a fan of things outside of my safe space. Most days I run outside to do my business and run right back into the house. Sometimes the two other pups living with me can coerce me into playing in the yard but any unexpected noise will alert me that I need to quickly return to my safe space. Those pups have become my best buds and we play really great together around the house. I get nervous around people and I’m not a fan of walks - other dogs barking at me, other people, and cars driving by is too much for me. My foster parents call me a nervous traveler too. I don’t know what it is, but every time I get in the car, my instincts kick in and I suddenly have to go #2, even if I just went! I’m hoping that as my foster family and my future family continue to work with me I can overcome anything!
Speaking of working with me, training will be important. I listen well, I can sit and come when told. I know to go potty outside, I just don’t know how to tell the hoomans yet so occasionally I have accidents. I sleep in my crate and I’m quiet at night. I don’t mind being in there and I keep it clean. I don’t eat things that aren’t mine.
I’m up to eating 6 cups a day (3 cups twice a day) - the bigger I get, the hungrier I get! I also have a skin issue that is slowly getting better. I have a special shampoo that I use. It’s really helped with the flaking and dandruff. I still sometimes get red and itchy.
Thanks for reading all about me. I’m looking forward to meeting you - really, I am, even if my nervous shakes make it seem otherwise :)
Adoption Fee: $550 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
