History: We recently held our annual Out of the Cold Rescue Effort and welcomed back 200+ animals to rescue. This rescue effort helps animals out of the cold, frigid weather of North Dakota and welcomes them to loving foster homes at Coco’s Heart who work towards finding forever homes for these sweet pups.
A Note from the Foster: Look at youuuuuu checking me out! I know, I know, I am pretty darn cute and if I can say myself, very handsome! My Coco’s Heart name is Emu, but my foster family calls me Moo. I am a bit worried about them because I think that they think I am a cow. They now call me Moo Cow. I haven’t had the heart to tell them that I am a dog, not a cow. But either way they love me and think I am adorable.
I came to Coco’s heart in November from North Dakota. I am so thankful to CHDR for helping me because I would not have made it through the winter in their terribly cold temperatures. I really enjoy being in the warmth of a home.
I have made a ton of progress with my foster family. I have learned to sit and lay down, what a smart guy I am huh? I also know that I am supposed to go potty outside. I have had a few potty accidents when my family is not paying attention. My foster mom says that it is not my fault, but she tells me that I need to ring the bell or bark at her. I am trying hard. I love, love, love going for walks, cars do scare me a bit, but I am getting used to them and feel better when foster mom tells me I am doing a good job. I also love toys to tug and chase. If you want someone to play fetch with, I would love to play that with you.
Well, I suppose I should tell you about the kennel. I am so good at going in my kennel with noprotest during the day. I am in the kennel a couple of hours a day practicing my kennel skills. My Ashley Foster stays home with me all day. She is doing school so sometimes she is busy and can’t watch me. She lets me stay out when I want to rest and can lie by her while she studies. Now I will tell you about nighttime. I really want to sleep under my foster mom’s bed. So, when I hear it is bedtime, I run under her bed hoping no one will catch me. It is just so cozy under there and the perfect place to sleep. Sometimes they let me sleep there but most times they send me to my kennel because my new family may prefer, I sleep in a kennel. I go in with no protest and sleep without a peep all night.
If you want to know more about me and meet my cute little face, my foster family will tell you more about me. I just can’t wait to find my forever home and love you for the rest of my life.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
