History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Gabe is a 16-week-old Shepherd-Chow mix and an absolute gem of a puppy. With his kind heart, soft curiosity, and easygoing personality, he’s the kind of dog that feels like he’s always been part of the family.
Agile and adaptable, Gabe goes with the flow—whether it's cuddling on the couch, daily walks or playing with the kids and our resident dog. He’s growing up in a busy foster home with two kids, two adults, and a furry sibling - he's thriving with the rhythm of family life. Gabe has the ears and coloring of a Chow with coat and body of a Shepherd.
Gabe is good with other dogs, loves when family friends and neighborhood kids visit. He is open to new experiences—stairs, playing, bath, cuddles. While not the bravest boy just yet, his sweet curiosity and calm demeanor make him easy to redirect and a joy to guide.
✨ What makes Gabe special?
– Sleeps well in his kennel
– Doing great with potty training (just stick to a schedule!)
– Low-maintenance, well-balanced energy
– Equally happy being in the mix or quietly hanging out nearby
– Loves daily walks, family time, and being part of the action—but never demands the spotlight
Gabe has the makings of a once-in-a-lifetime dog—and just needs the right people to keep helping him grow!
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
