History: Goggles is a super handsome fellow who needed a second chance to a good life and has been doing well in his foster home. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever family!
A note from the foster: Goggles is the sweetest little Boston boy, who is doing his best to make up for all the snuggles, treats and playtime he missed out on in the first couple years of his life! His preference is to be as close to you as he can get - he is a great partner for nap time! He also loves toys and chewing, and plays well with our resident dog. He is very food motivated, and will follow you anywhere if you have a treat! He makes us laugh every day with how excited he gets at mealtime, and his sweet little tail wagging is just the best. Chewies and lick mats are his very favorite thing. He is a pretty typical Boston Terrier, and so it's no surprise that he is curious, a little mischievous and has a little stubborn streak - but once he trusts you, he really trusts you - nail trimming, wiping paws etc. is no problem at all with him (especially if rewarded with a treat!). When we are home with him, he is a very relaxed dog - one or two walks a day plus some playtime is plenty for him, and he has been great just hanging in my office without a peep during the day while I work.
Goggles is totally potty trained - he has not had an accident in the house since the first couple of days after we brought him home (almost 2 months). He doesn't give major cues, but as long as he gets let out at least every 2-4 hours, he does just fine and won't go in the house. He has never had an accident in his kennel.
Goggles has been through a lot in his short life, especially in the last few months, and as such, he is working on his confidence. He takes some anxiety meds to help, but does still struggle with separation anxiety. He has trouble relaxing in his kennel when we are gone, and though he is making improvements, he barks on and off, and so would do best in a home with no shared walls, and ideally with folks who are home often. He never totally relaxes in his kennel, even when we are gone for several hours. He is doing ok being kenneled at night, especially when he is in the same room with his people. Meeting new people can also be challenging for him, and it is best to take introductions to new people slowly. Goggles is looking for a family that can be patient with him as he gains confidence and learns to trust again!
Goggles is a great companion dog, and is hoping for someone to give him a chance!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
