History: We recently held our annual Out of the Cold Rescue Effort and welcomed back 200+ animals to rescue. This rescue effort helps animals out of the cold, frigid weather of North Dakota and welcomes them to loving foster homes at Coco’s Heart who work towards finding forever homes for these sweet pups.
A Note from the Foster: Hercules, Hercules, Hercules; that’s what I hear my foster momma and others call me! I’m about 15 weeks old; they think I may be a mix of rottweiler/shepherd. Even though sometimes this giant new world can be kind of scary, I am growing into a strong and brave puppy!
From the start my foster momma thought that I seemed to be more timid than my siblings; I let them lead the way and if I am feeling brave enough I follow. Sometimes I will go and investigate what they are checking out and then return to my comfy dog bed and enjoy some alone time with my chew. One thing that I have found myself to REALLY enjoy is chasing that ball! Sometimes I even toss it for myself with my mouth or push it with my paw and then chase it. My foster momma says I am getting really good at bringing it back to her and playing fetch too! It’s so much fun! When I am all done playing fetch my other most favorite thing is belly rubs! Oh my goodness a good belly rub just puts me right into relax mode, it just feels so good and I cannot get enough. Foster momma even has a hard time getting photos of me because as soon as she walks up to take a picture I roll over for a belly rub!
I am working super hard on my potty training and crate training. I am doing SO good! I keep my crate clean at night and as long as we stick to my potty routine I am not having any accidents in the house; sometimes if it’s not my scheduled potty time I go sit or pace at the door so that they know I need to go. I am not a super huge fan of my crate, I would much rather be out snuggling on a dog bed or with you. With that being said I do give you a little sad tune that I am not enjoying being in my crate, but give me time (and maybe a good bone) and I will relax and go to sleep for the night or while you are out of the home. I do really enjoy snuggle time with the other dogs in the home and my foster humans, but I really don’t mind laying by myself and relaxing too.
A little about my background. I came from a rural area in northern North Dakota during this year's Out Of The Cold Rescue! Nobody really knows what happened to myself and my brother and sister before our time with Coco’s but at some point I sustained an injury to my right eye. I may have a scar in my retina, however I don’t know any difference, it does not bother me one bit! The vet says they just recommend my furever family would have their vet monitor it throughout my life, but they do not expect any issues to arise. I am completely vetted, neutered and cleared for adoption!
I really hope you will reach out to learn more about me! I hope to find my furever home real soon, could it be you? I hope so!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
