A note from the foster: Hey there! I'm Iris, though my foster mom likes to call me Sissy sometimes—I'm a girl of many names!
I came all the way from Oklahoma to Minnesota with my siblings, and wow, am I loving the land of MinneSNOWta! It’s been such an adventure, and I’m ready to find my forever home!
I’m a sweet, affectionate, and patient 5-month-old black lab mix, and I can’t wait to meet my new family! My foster mom says I’ve been doing amazing with potty training—no accidents at all since I arrived. Go me!
I also love my kennel and actually prefer to sleep in it. I might whine a tiny bit, but it’s nothing too loud. My mornings are the best! I start my day with a quick potty break, then gobble down my yummy breakfast before heading back into my kennel for a little “me time” while my foster mom enjoys her coffee. Once she's done, it’s playtime, and I’m all about toys! I’m even learning to play fetch. After a fun play session, it’s snuggle time—and I’m totally here for the cuddles!
I get along with other dogs, too. There’s a 3-year-old male dog here, and while we mostly do our own thing, we’re getting more comfortable with each other every day.
I’m doing great with leash training, though I still need some practice. I’m also learning to not jump on people and furniture (it’s a work in progress, but I’m getting there!), and I’m picking up the “down” command too.
I’ll admit, I’m a little shy around my foster dad when he talks to me, but he’s super patient and has been earning my trust with lots of gentle petting.
I’m such a sweet girl, and I can’t wait to find my forever family who will give me all the love I deserve!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
