A Note from the Foster: Hi there! I’m Jerica, or as my foster family likes to call me, Lucy ❤️ My foster family says I am the sweetest little girl, and never short on kisses! I am what they call a miniature poodle at 2 years old and 7 pounds.
My foster family says I’m what they like to call a “Velcro dog”. I love to follow my foster family around the house and am always ready for snuggles! I love to give kisses on your hands and face and enjoy belly rubs.
When I’m not waiting for snuggles or pets, I’m very adventurous and busy exploring the world around me. There’s so many new sights and sounds for me to take in! While sometimes I am a bit skittish and nervous about being picked up, my foster family says I am growing in confidence every day!
My foster family says I am very smart. I know how to do stairs and am working on leash training and potty training. I am doing well going potty outside on a schedule in a fenced in yard, but may still have accidents in the home as I continue to learn. I know with a patient human teacher, I will learn quickly!
I do have a bit of what my foster family calls separation anxiety, and I am vocal when my foster family leaves me behind. Once I realize my humans will come back, I think I will be just fine! Other than that, I am very quiet and rarely bark.
I love other dogs and enjoy playing with them! But I will also leave them alone if they do not want to play. I am more interested in people and getting lots of pets!
I have not yet met children, but because I am so small and fast movements sometimes startle me, older or dog-savvy kids that are kind and gentle would be best. I have never met a cat, but I think that I would ignore them.
Because I’m a poodle, I will require grooming every 4-8 weeks to keep my curly hair nice and fresh looking!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
