A Note from the Foster: Hi! My name is Joseph. If you are looking for a guy with some good energy then you are looking at the right dog! I'm hoping to find an active family who can help my mind and body with some fun and engaging activities. I heard that if you google canine enrichment there are some really cool activities you can do with dogs like me! Many of them you can do with things you probably already have at home. My foster mom makes me frozen lick mats and frozen filled kongs, those really help me get my energy out with mental stimulation! My foster mom thinks a "herding ball" would be really great for me.
I realize that there won't always be time for special activities, so I want you to know that toys are always fun too. I love to play with toys and especially love them if they squeak! I get very silly if you give me a ball and I also enjoy spending some quiet time chewing on a bone. I'm pretty self sufficient when it comes to finding something to do, I am no stranger to helping myself to the toy bin. I have never grabbed or chewed on anything in my foster home that wasn't a dog toy. I am very smart and eager to learn, once I get some more training I will be the best boy!
Here are a few fun facts about me: I am potty trained! I will go to the door and wait for you to let me out. I know how to sit and I even know how to shake! Pretty cool. I love to play with other dogs, I find confidence in having another dog to follow. Foster mom says I am fantastic walking on a leash with a harness! I used to be very afraid of passing vehicles but each walk is a little better. I look to the dog I am walking with to see if they are afraid of the passing cars and strangers, I relax when they show me that they are not so scary. My foster family has a cat that I am very interested in, I would do best in a forever home without one. I go into my kennel all by myself, sometimes I would rather stay out and play but a treat always gets me in. Sometimes I bark for a little bit but I calm down quickly. I used to have a hard time in the kennel at night but my foster mom found that with my kennel door covered and a sound machine or loud fan by me, I sleep right through the night! I haven't been around kids, but my energy might be a bit much for small children and I nibble out of excitement sometimes so I would probably do better with bigger kids. I love to snuggle with my foster parents, I'm very lovey and will sit right on your lap! I love some good pets, ear scratches, and a nice long belly rub.
As long as I can get some mental and/or physical stimulation I'll be a happy camper.
So, what do you say? Let's make this official....fill out that adoption application and let's start our forever adventure together!
Adoption Fee: $550 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
