History: Keeley is a beautiful and petite gal who needed a second chance. She arrived to rescue very unsure and timid. She has been doing well in her foster home where she thrives with another small dog nearby and a lot of patience. She deserves it!
A note from her foster: Keeley’s ideal forever person or family would enjoy the process of continuing to help her come out of her shell and celebrate every milestone along the way. 💕
Keeley is very sweet and loves other dogs. She would do best in a home with another small confident dog. She loves to play with squeak toys and play with the resident dogs in my home.
She continues to gain confidence around humans, however, she does not like to be picked up and carried. Her favorite spot for her human to be is at her level sitting on the floor… She loves to get your attention then. 💜 She will come over and sit on your lap, nudge you for pets and can be very affectionate on her terms.
She has been around children and she is very leary of them. Older children, who understand her shyness are sometimes OK with her. It does take her a long time to trust, but who can blame her with the life she had before Coco‘s.
She comes when you call her by name, however, she will cower and do the army crawl on the floor when you attempt to pick her up. She Is not able to go downstairs, so she must be carried. She will beat you to the top going up though!😊. Her perfect home would be one level, but she will allow you to carry her when needed. She walks fairly well on leash but prefers a fenced in yard. Because of her arthritis and bowed legs, she’s not a candidate for long walks.
Keeley is dreaming of a forever home that will love her for who she is, give her a soft place to lay her head, the love she so deserves and lots of squeaky toys.
She sleeps quietly in her kennel all night. She does still have an occasional accident, but does well when she is taken out frequently throughout the day. She is an early riser, but definitely enjoys her naps throughout the day.
Keeley Eleanor is very sweet and would make a great addition to a quiet and patient family. She is feeling so much better after her bad teeth were removed and she will continue to flourish and show her sweet soul in the years to come.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
