History: Lulu Lemon is a beautiful JRT who was surrendered to rescue by a commercial breeding facility. She is beyond sweet and is continuing to work on her confidence and trust building. She would make a great addition to a lucky home of her very own soon!
A note from the foster: Lulu is a sweet 12lb girl who came from a breeder and is enjoying living in a home.
Lulu’s favorite things to do:
- Eat! She is a great eater, not picky at all. Even with hardly any teeth she eats dry food.
- Go for walks! Lulu is great on a leash. She is not reactive at all to people or other dogs she sees. She gets excited if she sees a squirrel but then goes back to nicely walking and sniffing.
- Go for car rides! She is great in a car. She really likes sniffing out the window.
- Rest on a bed pillow or a pile of blankets! Lulu likes to be comfy. She also likes to sit on the top of the couch and look out the window.
- Get scratches and pets! She will jump up on my lap for some attention. If I stop, and she’s had enough, she goes and lays nearby me.
- Be with her person! She would do best in a home where her person or people are home most of the time, and also like to take her with them wherever they go. She enjoys being with you, whether it’s outside or inside.
House training is going well and she does great on a schedule. She starts running around if she needs to go out. She is crate trained and goes in happily with a treat. At night she sleeps in a kennel in our room and doesn’t make a peep.
She would be happiest in a quieter home with not very many people. She does well with women and likes being around dogs, especially smaller ones. In our house, she prefers to be with only me. She will take treats from my husband and two teenagers but for the most part does not engage with them. Sometimes she barks at them when they first enter a room. She gets along with our three dogs, especially our 25lb male.
Lulu has chronic bronchitis and takes two 50mg tablets of Theophylline once a day to keep her lungs clear. It is an inexpensive medication that she needs for the rest of her life. Also, if Lulu is leashed on her collar and it pulls on her neck, it seems to aggravate her trachea. When outside at home, it would be best if she’s in a secure fenced in yard instead of a tie out. On walks she does well wearing a harness.
Lulu was born with underdeveloped lower eyelids so they cannot catch all the normal discharge that would go into the tear ducts. She tries to wipe her eyes herself but sometimes I help.
Lulu can’t wait to find her forever home!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
