History: Coco’s Heart participated in an incredibly successful yet large rescue effort in a rural area where we welcomed dogs that were surrendered for various reasons. Some in rougher shape than others- gun shot wounds, mange, injured..the list really does go on and on. Some arrived in good spirits and ready to start their next journey in finding their forever homes. They are each such wonderful dogs who would make great additions to lucky homes!
A note from the foster: Let me tell you a bit about miss Maya.
She is a fun, crazy and cuddly girl. She loves to play hard and she is also one of the best cuddlers out there! She sleeps in our room at night with the other dogs and usually lays on her favorite bed or at my feet.
We start our day early (about 4:30am because of mine and my boyfriends work schedule) her and my resident dogs have about 1-2 hours to run and then come in and eat breakfast. She is crate trained and eats in her crate. She is then back out to go potty and is back inside till about 12:30-1pm when I come home between jobs and let them all outside to run around and go back in to have a snack. After their snack she is in her crate till about 6pm when my boyfriend gets home from work. They first go out to potty and then come back in to eat dinner. They then have the rest of the night to play outside, inside, lounge around, etc.
Maya and one of my resident dogs, Astro, are best friends. They are almost exactly the same age and having the two of them around is like having toddlers, haha - they are always wrestling, playing and laying on the bay window seat together.
All my dogs love Benebones, so we have them all over the house. She is still learning to respect boundaries of the other dogs when they have a bone, but she is doing well with it. We are also working with her on waiting her turn while taking a treat, and she is slowly getting better. We are also still working on basic recall - she is definitely improving on this. She is shy of new people at first but warms up pretty quick. Once she does know you though, she has a tendency to jump up so we are working on that as well. She is very keen on protecting the house and will bark at any truck or person that comes by - she makes for a great security system. Maya has taken to me quite a bit and does like to protect me from other dogs out in public and does have a habit of barking at them.
She enjoys being out in the fenced in yard and loves running out there! She has figured out how to get under the fence, but a bottom rail on the fence cured that.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
