History: Melrose is a super beautiful little lady who needed a second chance to a good life. She arrived to rescue eager to please and has her paws crossed to meet you soon!
A Note from the Foster: My name is Melrose and I have been in my foster mom's house for only a week but it has been great, scary at times, but I am getting more used to it each day. I usually approach people very cautiously at first as most situations are new for me but after years in a puppy mill my foster mom says she is very impressed with my ability to trust. I do get nervous with fast movements or loud noises (mom says I sort of pancake to the floor) but my tail never stops wagging and I recover quickly ready to say hi or play! I am still figuring out toys and how to play with other dogs but you can see the excitement on my face as I try to figure out. I currently live with both a large dog and a dog more my size and we get along fine; they encourage me and are trying to teach me all the new things.
I love pets, cuddles, and my comfy dog bed. I sleep through the night in my kennel and don’t complain about being in there. My foster mom says potty training is going ok-ish but part of the problem is how cold it is outside! No fun! But I do keep my kennel space clean so with a consistent schedule she says I will learn fast. I am also still figuring out how a leash works but she says that will just take time.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
