History: Mia is a beautiful shepherd mix momma who needed help from our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort and arrived to rescue very, very pregnant. She has been the very best momma who has done such a great job at caring for her pups and they are now officially ready to start their journeys in finding forever homes of their very own soon!
A note from the foster: Mia’s story is one of resilience and love. She arrived in November, just in time for a fresh start. At about four weeks pregnant, she was a little underweight but otherwise healthy and full of potential. Thanks to the OOTC event, Mia found safety in a warm, loving home where she could thrive. Shortly after, she gave birth to seven beautiful, healthy puppies—all surrounded by love, care, and plenty of cuddles (Donna, Henry, Sophie, Ali, Rosie, Sam, and Skye)
At just about a year old, Mia still has that playful puppy energy. She adores running in the yard, chasing after toys, and—best of all—playing with her pups. She’s a fantastic, attentive mom who loves to interact with her babies, balancing care with moments of joyful play.
When Mia arrived, she weighed 46 lbs and quickly filled out to 55 lbs during her pregnancy. Her ideal weight will likely be in the 45–50 lb range. She’s fully potty trained and adjusts well to routines. At night, she originally slept in my room and did wonderfully, though she now stays in a pen with her puppies when I’m out or sleeping.
Mia is a total sweetheart who craves affection. She loves snuggles, belly rubs, and giving kisses, and she has the cutest habit of resting her paw on my arm as if to say, “Keep petting me, please!” She even enjoys lounging on a footstool near the couch to stay close to her people.
Mia has also been a delight with my two dogs (both 3 years old and 55–65 lbs). One is mellow and prefers his space, while the other is full of energy and loves to play. Mia quickly warmed up to my energetic one and now enjoys playing with him, showing how well she adapts to different personalities.
This sweet, loving girl is ready to continue her journey in a forever home where she can bring her playful energy, affectionate nature, and big heart. Mia has so much love to give—she just needs someone to give it to!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
