History: Mimi is a beautiful stocky gal who arrived to rescue unsure and quite stinky. She has been settling into rescue and is a snuggler! She loves to be close by like a velcro :) She is dog, cat, kid, and husband friendly and seems to thrive in a fenced in yard as she has never been on leash before. She is working on this but her forever home may be best with a fenced in yard where she can run and potty comfortably! She hopes to meet you soon.
A Note from the Foster: Mimi is one part bowling ball (she sometimes doesn’t realize her strength when she comes in hot for cuddles) and two parts marshmallow (you won’t find a softer, sweeter girl anywhere). She is slowly gaining confidence and learning how to enjoy the good things in life. She really loves attention from her people, but she isn’t always sure what to expect. When she gets nervous, she tends to just pancake on the floor until the overwhelm passes. But those instances are happening less and less every day. This girl is super chill and fairly low energy. When we introduced her to our couch, she couldn’t get enough. Her absolute favorite spot in the world is on the couch with her head resting on or against our legs. She also really enjoys the super plush and comfy dog bed in her kennel. And she spends the better portion of most days in one of those two spots!
Mimi doesn’t have an unkind word to say about anyone. She loves my teen/tween kids, doesn’t even seem to notice my cats, and tries to play with our resident senior dog. Our dog isn’t always up for playing, but Mimi doesn’t push things and gives her space. She is potty trained reliably, and she tends to potty in the exact same spot outside which makes clean up very simple. She loves her kennel and will often choose to hang out inside of it on her own. She has a goofy smile with a tongue that’s way too big for her mouth. She also sploots in an adorable way that makes her back end look like a Thanksgiving turkey. But she doesn’t notice how silly she looks.
Mimi doesn’t appear to have had any previous experience on a leash, so her adopters will need to be very patient due to her tendency to pancake when on a leash. She gets cold quickly so we haven’t been able to take her on a walk outside yet, but we are leashing her indoors to get her more used to it. Though not required, a fenced yard would make training Mimi a lot easier on her forever family. She generally likes her food and her treats, but when she gets nervous she refuses treats. So she isn’t terribly food motivated in the traditional sense.
I’ve never owned or fostered a bulldog before, but Mimi is making me a bully convert! She is as sweet and gentle as they come and is going to make her future family so happy!
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
