A Note from the Foster: Meet Nini!
This icy blue eyed guy goes by Niko in our house🩵. He is 7 years YOUNG & it has been an absolute joy to be able to watch him come out of his shell over the past couple weeks since we welcomed him into our home!🥰
Niko LOVES other dogs - I have three resident dogs ranging from 8 all the way up to 70 pounds that he gets along great with. But he especially likes the smallest of the three, they play alllll the time. She is a Klee Kai as well & it's fun to see how similar their personalities are.👯 I think he would do best in a home that has another dog friend for him to hang out with🐶 On that same note, I do not have cats, so I am unsure how he would do with them.🐱
Potty training is going great for this guy.🧻 He totally knows that outside is where we go for that & happily follows the rest of my pack out the door. When I first brought him home he wanted to mark in the house. A couple stern no's & he hasn't tried to do this since. He is a very quick learner!🤓
Niko came from a commercial breeding background, and likely was in a kennel for much of his life. So naturally, he does great in the kennel. He rides in a kennel in the car🚙, sleeps in it throughout the night😴, and is in there 8 hours per day M-F while I am at work. He has not once made a peep while kenneled, nor has he ever had an accident in there either.
I would tell you that confidence is the #1 thing that Niko is working on. I don't believe he had ever used stairs before, prior to coming to rescue. These were very scary for him at first, but after watching my dogs & some coaxing from foster mom with bites of hotdog🌭, he pretty much has it down!
All in all, he is the sweetest, most well-mannered man & we love him to pieces.❤️
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
