History: Pixie is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance to finding her forever home. She needed help from a rural area and arrived to rescue with the help of a partnering organization.
A Note from the Foster: Hi! I'm Pixie! I have only been in my foster home for a week, and I am already loving it! My mom says I have the most beautiful blue eyes and cutest ears because they never match, one is always flopping in the other direction. I am getting the hang of going potty outside, but sometimes I don't know how to tell my mom I need to, so I have an accident. When my mom keeps me on a schedule, I do great! And I love the treat I get after! I sleep in my crate at night but would love to sleep in my mom's bed. I like snuggling with her when we are on the couch, and I LOVE watching out the window! I like to talk a lot, but my mom ignores me, and eventually, I will pick up a toy and play by myself. I love bone toys and balls. I could chase my ball for hours! I hope I find my forever home soon!
Hi all, foster mom here. Pixie is an absolute sweetheart and has done great acclimating in rescue. She is doing well with potty training and knows that she should go potty outside. If she does have an accident, she comes up to tell me.
Being a presumably husky mix, she is a talker. Pixie will bark for many reasons and no reason, but we are working on ignoring her attention barks. For now, shared walls might not be the best spot for her long-term. She is very food motivated and learned her name and sit commands very quickly. With redirection, she will take a toy over something she shouldn't be chewing on. She has been counter surfing so supervision will be important! Pixie does great with other dogs but hasn't had any experience with cats or kids. Being young, I am sure she would do well with older kids, but small children may be intimidated by her high energy, jumps, and barks.
She is a very sweet girl that with time and energy dedicated to training her, she will be a phenomenal companion.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
