History: Rosie was recently returned to rescue due to a life change in her adopted home. She is such a sweet girl who is adapting to being back in rescue and doing well. She hopes to find her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: We’ve all heard the expression “a diamond in the rough”. Well, there is no rough to Rosie. She is just simply a gem. I have had this sweet girl for a little less than a week, but she has settled into our family like she’s been here for years. She seems like an old soul who understands far more than her 8 months of life would have taught her. Rosie is calm and peaceful inside the house but loves to go outside and sniff around and explore. So far she has been totally reliable in the house from a potty training perspective. She is very good about seeking out appropriate things like nylabones and dog toys when she wants to chew. And speaking of toys, I have never had a dog who took so much joy in a variety of crinkly and squeaky dog toys. She loves her people and never wants to be very far away from us, but she isn’t a clingy dog. And she has the most soft and lustrous fur just perfect for petting! She kennels very easily and is quiet and clean all night long (even when we sleep in a bit on Saturday). She rarely barks inside the house, but when she does it is for appropriate reasons (like the doorbell), she quiets quickly, and she sounds so big that I think anyone planning something undesirable would think twice! She also doesn’t usually bark when meeting new female humans. However, she is definitely more on edge when meeting new male friends. Thankfully, she calms down after a few minutes and doesn’t hold a grudge. She barked a lot at both my tween son and my husband when she first met them, but within an hour she was actively seeking attention from both. I have had other dogs like this and I feel pretty comfortable saying that this is a training and confidence issue, not a personality issue. My resident senior dog doesn’t like to play, and she is usually pretty respectful of this. Occasionally Rosie needs a reminder growl, but then she backs off immediately. She is curious about my cats and wants to sniff them. They, however, are not fans of this and Rosie mostly leaves them alone. She seems to adore my teen/tween kids. Honestly, the only bothersome issue with Rosie is that she does do some submissive peeing. But it isn’t a constant thing and tends to happen more when she has a full bladder. So it has been easily manageable, and I think there is a strong likelihood that she will outgrow it. If you are looking for a sweet, smart, beautiful, loving companion, you can’t possibly go wrong with Rosie.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
