History: Sam Elliott is a handsome boy who had been overlooked for several months prior to coming to CHDR. He is a good boy who thrives with a confident handler. He does great with other dogs and likes to play. He is hoping to find his forever home soon!
A note from the foster: Sam Elliot is pretty much the perfect dog. He is so friendly to everyone. He has gotten along with every dog he has met, big or small, playfull or grumpy. He loves people, and loves to make new friends. Car rides and treats are what he loves most of all. Sam is such an easy going go with the flow dog, he has a moderate energy level, enjoys his play time but also indulges in laziness around the house. Sometimes he thinks he is a lap dog. Sam is kennel trained, he goes in willingly and will stay in his kennel calmly and quietly until he is let out. I have actually never heard Sam bark and is very quiet all around. He is doing excellent at potty training and knows that we only go potty outside. Sam would do great in pretty much any type of home and would also do well as a dog for a first-time pet owner if you are looking for an easy dog. He has all his basic skills down, knows how to sit and take treats gently too. Sam is so excited to hopefully meet his forever family soon!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
