History: We recently held our annual Out of the Cold Rescue Effort and welcomed back 200+ animals to rescue. This rescue effort helps animals out of the cold, frigid weather of North Dakota and welcomes them to loving foster homes at Coco’s Heart who work towards finding forever homes for these sweet pups.
A Note from the Foster: Hello to my potential Adopter!
I want to introduce myself and tell you exactly why I would be the perfect addition to your family. My name is Scout, however my foster family has lots of nicknames for me including, Scooter, Scoots, Scooby and Good Boy! I just turned 1 year old in January and the birthday cookie was my favorite part of my big day, I wish I could have a birthday every day! I am 70 pounds, so yes I am a big healthy boy but don't worry that has not stopped me from believing I am a lap dog and should be held and snuggled all the time.
My foster mom says that I am doing a great job learning manners and rules. I am house broken, crate trained, walk pretty good on a leash (although I do get distracted sometimes and try to trip my humans when I walk right in front of them) and I know the command of sit. I love to give kisses; licking is my superpower so if you do not like licks then I am not sure I am on the one for you. I currently live with another dog, and we are best buddies, we love to wrestle! I also live with kids, and they too are so much fun and give me the best pets. I've heard of these things called cts but I have not met one yet so not sure what the fuss is all about, likely I would be friends with them too as I really am just a good boy who wants to please and be loved.
One thing I am working on with my foster parents is learning to not jump up on people. I just get so excited and sometimes forget that all 4 of my paws belong on the ground but I am working on it and I am getting much better. A quick correction and reminder and I go back to sitting like an angel waiting for someone to pet me. Another thing that we learned is that when I am on a leash I do not like to do my business. I currently live in a home with a fenced in yard, I go to the door when I want to go outside and they let me out so I can roam in circles to find the perfect spot. However, I did stay in an apartment for a bit and had to go out on a leash and well that was just very confusing to me and I couldn't always find the perfect spot so then I would do my business when I got back inside. So I guess if you live in an apartment or do not have a fenced in yard this is just something we will have to figure out together. I am full of energy, remember I am only 1 year old, so I love to play with toys, chew on bones, run around the yard and go for walks so I need a family that is committed to make sure I have an outlet for this puppy energy. But after all that excitement I LOVE to take naps, I have my favorite spot on the couch and I spend several hours a day in that spot recharging.
If you read all of this and are thinking that I sound pretty awesome, you would be correct. If you want to meet me in person then submit your application and my foster mom will coordinate a meet and greet for us! I am excited to find my forever home!

Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
