History: Sofia is a volunteer favorite here at Coco’s Heart. She arrived to rescue and immediately warmed our hearts with her calm and willing personality. She arrived with eyes full of gunk and in need of TLC pretty quickly. The good news is she is on the mend and hoping to find her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: When Sofia first came to rescue, she presented herself as one of the calmest, most compliant dogs I’d ever met. Before coming to Coco’s Heart, Sofia had been used to deliver and raise litter upon litter of puppies. Now it’s her chance to be a puppy again!
Within days of coming to my home, Sofia developed a spring to her step and a swing to her tail. After a short week, she began to frolic and play with my resident Boston Terrier. . .frolic and play! It is pure joy to watch her discover the delight of actually running in the yard and going for long walks in the park! Her whole body seems to say, “Who knew the world was so big and wonderful, that there was so much to see and smell?”
And in the house? Sofia has discovered the pure bliss of draping herself across me on the couch and napping–such a soft, warm, wonderful alternative to being in a kennel all the time! This girl is learning to appreciate the finer things in life, and will be eternally grateful to the lucky person(s) who adopt her! She definitely deserves the best that life has to offer.
In Sofia’s own words: I love my foster mom so much that I follow her around. If she gets up from the couch, I get up from the couch. If she ducks into the bathroom, I try to duck into the bathroom. And if she happens to duck in when I’m not looking, I pace up and down the hallway looking for her until she cracks the door open to let me know where she is!
My foster mom gives the BEST neck and face rubs, and I adore napping on the couch with her. She takes me outside and we go for glorious walks. I go potty outside every time she takes me out, even if I don’t really have to go, because mom seems to like that. I rarely have accidents in the house–mom doesn’t like that, and all I want to do is make her happy because she makes me so happy!
I like my foster dog-brother and the dogs I’ve met on our walks. I’m even starting to play with them, but I’m still kind of learning how to play. I get along just fine with the resident cats. I also like all the people I meet, but my foster mom is definitely my favorite.
I am still a very calm and compliant dog--mom calls me an "easy keeper." I am content and quiet in my kennel at night and during the day when mom is gone. The only time I’ve used my voice was the night when the large black box hanging on the wall in the family room suddenly lit up and started talking! The images on it kept moving! I’d never seen such a thing! Mom called it a TV, and assured me that it would never hurt me, so after a few minutes, I stopped growling at it.
I feel like I’m in heaven here with my foster family, but my foster-dog brother has told me that TRUE paradise will be when I find my forever home. I can’t believe life can get any better. Will YOU be the one to prove that it can?
Adoption Fee: $550 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
