History: Toast is a super adorable little man who needed help from an unfortunate situation in Mexico where he was transferred to Coco’s Heart to get a second chance. He has been doing great in rescue and dreams of finding his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: This sweet little guy might seem shy at first, but once he comes out of his shell he’s so playful and fun to watch! Toast has clearly had a tough start to life, so it’s been really rewarding to watch him get more comfortable. Fast movements still startle him a bit, but it’s only getting better and he's only getting happier. Once he gets to know you, he’s such a snuggle bug, and loves his couch cuddles as much as he loves his toys!
When he first arrived, it was pretty cold, and coming from Mexico he was not a fan of the snow…but we cleared him a spot, and he has been very efficient at going potty outside ever since - as long as you let him out right after meals. He does great in his kennel when we’re gone for a while, and has never had an accident in there, either.
We’ve only had him around dogs that are bigger than him so far, and he’s been pretty fearful, but I really think he’d thrive with another dog closer to his size. I can tell he’s itching to play! He’s super curious, loves his walks, and does great on a leash, too. He’s a very easy boy who’d do well almost anywhere, if you give him a little time to trust you.
Toast is such a sweetheart, and gets more confident every day. He is so excited to find his people and settle into his forever home!
Adoption Fee: $550 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
