A note from the foster: Tyson is doing great. Though he exhibits a bit of nervous energy, I don't think it's anything that can't be calmed with some consistency. He's regularly out of his crate. Allows all of us to handle him. Accepts snuggles from our resident dog and is almost playing with her. Happily goes for walks - even to the coffee shop, eats, and goes outside to potty. Seemingly is potty trained. We're on pretty regular potty break schedule, but he gets whiny and then I put him out and he goes right away. Seems like a pretty good indicator. I've only seen the nervous or excited pee a couple times and neither time is it actual pee - just a spritz, so I do NOT have him in belly bands. He does just fine. He's happy and waggedy tailed with a wiggle butt and goofy as all get out. He is a little vocal - he has a chortle, growl that happens from time to time when he's taken by surprise or doesn't want to leave my side, but needs to. We instantly tell him no and separate him from me (the thing he wants) so he gets that he doesn't get to be snotty with others. I am clearly his favorite, but he accepts others. He will latch on to one person in the home and would be a great single person or couple dog, but a family would suit him fine - he'll just take longer to warm across the board. I'd say older kids as younger kids are likely to freak him out with their unpredictability, but I have two adolescents and he's doing fine. He warms to everyone else more each day. Honestly, I'd chalk most of his vocal or nervous energy up to small dog syndrome and being in a new place ;-P. From what I can tell his traits are pretty typical of a chihuahua or weiner dog. Also, he's an aggressive snuggler. It's so hilarious. Here's what I posted on FB about Tyson the other day...
#Tyson the #fosterdog is going to be a great addition to a loving family. After just 48ish hours, he’s willingly out of his crate, following us everywhere, snuggling Raven, accepting love from all and any of us, pottying outside - in the snow no less, loving walks, eating voraciously, and a happy little wiggle butt. He absolutely has some small dog syndrome making him a bit vocal, but not barky from what we see, it’s more a deep throated chortle … for the most part he’s curious, and happy, and ridiculously funny.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
