History: Whale is a super handsome fella who was surrendered to rescue from a commercial breeding facility. He is such a sweet boy who is hoping to find his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: I’m Whale, a very happy little dog. My foster mom think I look like a little raccoon and am the absolute cutest Pomeranian there ever was. I want nothing more than to be with my people, but am still learning how to trust. So I come to my foster mom, wiggling but also pancaked to the ground showing my belly.
My kennel is my safe space and if I’m not on your lap or cuddling, I like to be in my kennel. I’m quiet and content in there by my choice, as long as it’s near my people. I keep it clean and sleep in there all night. I’m also very comfortable and quiet in my kennel when I’m left home alone.
I don’t know how to walk on a leash, so a fenced in yard is best. I do know my name and come in when called. I am still learning about potty training, so wear a belly band inside. I am very regular though, so with time and consistency I will get it.
I am still learning how to live the cozy life as a pet. I can do a few stairs, but any more than that makes me very nervous so I get carried around a lot, which I don’t mind at all. I like other dogs and am very respectful, but I don’t know how to play. That means I may get overwhelmed by younger, more energetic dogs and probably young children. I don’t know what toys or treats are, but my foster siblings are doing their best to teach me.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
