A Note from the Foster: Wheeler Wheeeeee, that’s me! Sometimes my foster momma calls me Wheels too! I’m really beginning to learn a lot about this big world around me. It is so different from the rural area in ND that I came from. I have learned that I really enjoy playing with toys and dog chews while growling like a gargoyle; it makes me feel big and strong, especially when I’m playing tug-o-war. I REALLY enjoy treats! I am learning that if I sit I will get a treat even faster! I have to say my most favorite thing to do in my free time is snuggle! OH MY GOODNESS, who knew snuggles could be so amazing! Whether I am curled in my own bed alone with my blanket, with another dog in the house, or with my foster momma; I LOVE TO SNUGGLE! Sometimes when she is in bed my foster momma lets me under the blankets and it is just so warm and cozy!
I am being such a good boy and working REALLY hard on my potty training! Sometimes with all of this cold weather foster momma has put a sweater on me and that helps so I don’t get so chilly, then I am more willing to go do my business outside when it’s cold. Otherwise I was coming in and going and using the potty pads in the house that were supposed to be only for my emergencies. When I have to be in my crate while the humans are away at work I am really good at respecting my area and keeping it nice and clean; I know as soon as they get home they will take me outside to go potty.
I am doing really well socializing with other dogs, both young/older and smaller/bigger; I like to play with everyone as long as they play nice with me. If I feel like I do not want to play anymore I just separate myself from the group or go ask foster momma to pick me up for snuggles. We all eat in our crates (this way we mind our manners) so I know when it comes time for my meals, and food is being scooped into our bowls, I run right for my crate and wait so excitedly for my food! Sometimes I bark in excitement! There are also 3 cats in my foster home! These feline things are all pretty interesting because none of them act the same, but now I just sniff them and let them be when they come by. Occasionally if they run from me I will give them a little chase, just for a little game, I don’t want to hurt them I just want to see if they will play.
My foster momma thinks I would do good in a home with or without other animals; she says I am the perfect combination of energy and snuggles. I have met kids of all ages at some of the CHDR events that I have attended with my foster momma, I enjoy them! If anyone lets me, I love giving kisses on the face, or I will settle for cleaning your fingers for you too!
I really hope that you will want to get to know me more! Keep an eye out, I love going to Coco’s events! Come see me!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
